Zumo, the UK crypto-as-a-service platform, has launched its UK Cryptoasset Regulation Tracker to help crypto firms and other financial institutions understand incoming regulatory obligations.
With the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) authorisation gateway now open, firms are being advised to submit applications by the end of February 2027, allowing the regulator time to process the anticipated high volume requests before 25 October 2027 when the regulatory regime for cryptoassets takes effect.
Zumo reports that firms operating in the UK face a practical problem as rules are spread across policy statements, and many of them are written as amendments to existing provisions.
According to the firm, its UK Cryptoasset Regulation Tracker aims to address the complexity by providing crypto firms and other financial institutions a web application which lists, in plain English, what the new rules will require them to do based on their type of business activity.
The tracker also maps timelines for regulator milestones tagged by type, from the beginning of cryptoasset supervision in the UK, to the publication of final rules in June 2026, and full implementation in October 2027, explains the firm.
It furthers that users will be able to work through papers in sequential order and each summarised obligation sits under the rulebook section it comes from, linking directly back to the source text.
Nick Jones, founder and CEO at Zumo, says: “Everyone else publishing a UK regime tracker is a law firm or a consultancy. That work is valuable, of course, but it stops at the same place every time: here is what the rule says, here is what you should think about, and then the hard sell is to come and talk to us about your position.
“We’re developing our Tracker as industry operators. Building it has meant reading the regime rules right down to the level of every individual obligation, mapping each one to the regulated activity it attaches to, and keeping that mapping current as further papers land.”
