ClearToken and institutional infrastructure firm Consensys have partnered to help banks move tokenised assets and cash onto always-on infrastructure.
The collaboration combines the cryptographic capabilities of Consensys with ClearToken’s settlement infrastructure.
ClearToken Central Securities Depository — which received Gate 2 approval from the Bank of England earlier this year — operates in the UK’s Digital Securities Sandbox, aiming to conduct settlement 24/7 on a delivery-versus-payment basis against fiat, tokenised deposits, stablecoins, and other forms of cash.
Consensys connects banks, brokers, and asset managers across blockchains and financial market infrastructure in a compliant manner.
ClearToken will leverage Consensys for scalable tokenisation infrastructure, wallets, and client reach to broaden institutional access to tokenised assets.
Speaking on the partnership, Ben Santos-Stephens, CEO of ClearToken Group, says: “Wholesale markets are embracing a diverse and growing ecosystem of networks and blockchains.
“Realising the full potential of that ecosystem depends on infrastructure that connects the banks, assets, and ledgers already in use, and works across whichever networks institutions choose to distribute cash and assets to their clients.”
David Cunningham, president of Consensys, comments: “Financial institutions and market infrastructures are moving to always-on operations, with tokenisation at the core.”
Mark Williamson, chief commercial officer of ClearToken Group, adds: “Our clients have asked for one thing above all: tokenisation that fits into how they already manage risk and collateral. Working with Consensys puts that within reach of banks, brokers and asset managers.”
