VerifiedX, a programmable financial operating system for Bitcoin and digital assets, has partnered with EDX Markets to bring Verified Bitcoin (vBTC) to EDX for institutional spot trading.
According to VerifiedX, vBTC is designed to activate Bitcoin as self-custodial capital while maintaining one-to-one underlying collateralisation and native redemption liquidity back to Bitcoin at all times.
Each vBTC has an embedded Taproot address and is designed with an evergreen redemption path back to native Bitcoin.
vBTC is also programmable across trading, payments, treasury management, lending, and other financial applications.
As part of the collaboration, EDX will join VerifiedX’s network as a validator, allowing direct participation in governance and validation.
The firms anticipate the partnership will support several institutional strategies, including Bitcoin trading and price discovery; cross-market arbitrage and liquidity; treasury and balance sheet mobility; borrowing, lending, and yield strategies; onchain liquidity and financial applications; and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) composability through vBTC’s canonical representation, vBTC.b.
Speaking on the initiative, Jay Pollak, head of strategy at the VerifiedX Foundation, says: “Bringing vBTC to EDX is important because it connects programmable Bitcoin capital with market infrastructure purpose-built for sophisticated institutions.
“An allocator should be able to trade Bitcoin, deploy it, move it across financial environments, and ultimately redeem back to Bitcoin without losing the fundamental ownership characteristics that made Bitcoin valuable in the first place.”
David Olsson, chief commercial officer of EDX Markets, adds: “Our work with VerifiedX is intended to expand the infrastructure available to institutional Bitcoin participants by connecting EDX’s trading and clearing capabilities with an asset designed for broader programmability and mobility.”
The firms say further details on their collaboration will be announced in the coming weeks.
