Bybit has obtained a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) licence from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) for its regional entity, Bybit Fintech, covering spot trading.
The licence adds to Bybit’s Dubai presence, following the establishment of its headquarters in the jurisdiction in 2022.
The firm says the authorisation is indicative of its focus on “working with regulators and securing the appropriate permissions” as it expands internationally.
The exchange intends to pursue further regulatory permissions from VARA to add derivative products to its Dubai platform.
Bybit’s chief legal and compliance officer Peter Loo says: “Securing this licence is a significant step forward for Bybit.
“We have great respect for VARA's work in establishing a clear and robust framework for virtual assets.”
