Broadridge has unveiled plans to bring onchain shareholder governance and digital transfer agency services to the New York Stock Exchange’s (NYSE) tokenised securities platform, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.

Under the partnership, the NYSE will use Broadridge’s governance smart contracts, with a framework that supports proxy material distribution and digital wallet authentication linked to voting entitlements.

Broadridge says investors will be able to participate in its onchain governance services through supported wallets, broker interfaces, or the ProxyVote platform.

NYSE-listed issuers will gain the ability to tokenise their stock for trading on the NYSE tokenised securities platform, including access to digital transfer agency services via the Broadridge integration.

Speaking on the initiative, Broadridge CEO Tim Gokey says: “Broadridge is building the governance layer for tokenised equities, ensuring investors have access to trusted, institutional-grade governance.

“We’re also making it easier for issuers to participate by bringing our digital and traditional transfer agency services and proxy voting capabilities together in one solution, regardless of how shares are traded or where they are held.”

Lynn Martin, president of NYSE Group, adds: “Onboarding Broadridge’s digital transfer agency service marries trust and innovation, and partnering with NYSE advances our goal of connecting tokenised trading, clearing, and shareholder governance across a more unified ecosystem.”
