Universal Token and The SUSTECH Bank, a finance technology and development platform, have announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), outlining an alliance to design and deploy digital asset and settlement infrastructure across Africa and Asia.

Furthermore, the firms intend to collaborate on the integration of the universal blockchain infrastructure and the development of interoperable operating entities.

The companies cite the infrastructure and natural resource development requirements, rising demand for sustainable financial mechanisms, and the increasing interest from both governments and institutions as key facets in their decision to expand throughout Africa and Asia.

Commenting on the agreement, Alexander Borodich, founder and chairman of Universal Token, says: “Partnering with The SUSTECH Bank enables Universal Token to expand across Africa and Asia while remaining focused on productive asset-backed use-cases supported by strong governance and regulatory alignment.”

Managing Director, The SUSTECH Bank, Mahendra Bhavsar, adds the company “envisions a future where scalable innovation, institutional finance, and sustainable technology converge to address the world’s most pressing challenges”.

The companies aim for the alliance to serve as the basis for their plans to engage with governments, industrial partners, banks, funds, and project developers.
