Securitize Capital, a subsidiary of the real-world asset tokenisation platform Securitize, has been registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as an investment adviser.

Securitize says the authorisation is indicative of its expanded regulated platform for onchain capital markets, and, through its US affiliates, the firm has combined an investment adviser, broker-dealer, alternative trading system , transfer agent, and fund administration services, all registered by the SEC.

The regulatory approval provides a broader foundation for the subsidiary’s advisory business — transitioning it from an exempt reporting adviser to a fully registered entity — with Securitize aiming to deepen its relationships with asset managers, institutional investors, and other market participants.

Off the back of the recent statement from SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce — where it was noted that managing certain crypto vaults and lending strategies could implicate investment-adviser issues, subject to structure and activities — Securitize Capital intends to work with market participants in exploring onchain investment strategies under applicable regulatory frameworks.

The work will be supported by Securitize’s capabilities across product development, distribution, ownership recordkeeping, trading, and administration.

Commenting on the registration, Carlos Domingo, co-founder and CEO of Securitize, says: “Through Securitize Capital, we are adding another important capability to our full stack and strengthening our ability to help institutions develop and manage investment strategies built for an onchain financial system.”
