KuCoin EU, a Market in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) licensed digital asset platform, has appointed Hongyu Chen-Birkenbeul as managing director, following a decade with PwC Germany.
She will be responsible for overseeing KuCoin EU’s technology, ICT security and compliance, and product and operations functions, leading the development of the company’s digital platform.
The firm says its new appointment reflects its plan to scale regulated operations across Europe, which will be supported by Chen-Birkenbeul.
Chen-Birkenbeul brings almost 20 years’ international consulting and senior leadership experience to her new position, spanning strategy and governance, business and IT, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and digital advancement.
Prior to joining KuCoin EU, she led Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) transformation programmes and established governance frameworks for scalable business growth across organisations.
