Thunes, a cross-border payments infrastructure firm, has partnered with Coinbase to establish a unified infrastructure allowing companies to scale and deliver payment experiences globally.

The firms intend the initiative to span a variety of use cases, including enterprise supplier payments.

Under the partnership, Coinbase will integrate Thunes’ proprietary cross-border payment framework, the Direct Global Network, into its platform, establishing direct payout access to local domestic clearing systems and bank accounts globally.

Coinbase will power Thunes’ stablecoin infrastructure, enabling Thunes to integrate stablecoins deeply across its global network and support its expansion within the digital asset market.

Commenting on the collaboration, Chloé Mayenobe, deputy CEO at Thunes, says: “Digital assets have become a core part of our financial ecosystem, but connecting digital currencies to fiat and local domestic financial systems remains essential for real-world utility.

“Together with Coinbase, we are enabling seamless, fully compliant cross-border payouts anywhere in the world.”

Alec Lovett, head of infrastructure products at Coinbase, remarks: “Digital assets and stablecoins are transforming how value moves worldwide, and at Coinbase we are focused on unlocking their full potential.”
