Copper, a builder of blockchain-based infrastructure, has had its US entity, Copper Markets, accepted as a member of the nation’s Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
Copper Markets is a registered broker-dealer with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Under FINRA, Copper Markets will offer qualified custody, staking, financing solutions, and OTC services, along with access to its custodian-agnostic platform ClearLoop Network.
ClearLoop also enables participants to manage and mobilise collateral across connected venues, aiming to reduce operational fragmentation and support the more efficient use of capital.
The firm says its offering aims to provide institutional clients with flexible approaches for securely using and managing blockchain-based assets.
Copper adds that its decision to pursue FINRA broker-dealer registration reflects a broader focus on building infrastructure for regulated capital markets, instead of solely cryptocurrency trading or custody.
Commenting on the firm’s membership, Amar Kuchinad, CEO of Copper, says: “At Copper, we are focused on reducing friction, increasing efficiency, and automating how institutions operate across all financial markets.
“Establishing our regulated presence in the United States is an important step in bringing that infrastructure to the world’s largest capital market.”
Through ClearLoop, Copper’s Swiss subsidiary currently connects institutional clients with trading venues including Coinbase International Exchange, Kraken MTF, Deribit, OKX, and Bybit.
