Solidus Labs, a trade surveillance and compliance firm, has appointed Kevin Webb as its vice president of policy, following two decades of work for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the US Department of Justice.
As vice president of policy, he will lead Solidus’ work with legislators, regulators, industry associations, and standard-setters.
Prior to joining Solidus, Webb most recently served as a CFTC detailee to the US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, where he advised Chairman John Boozman on digital asset market structure and derivatives, and was a principal drafter of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.
He was also previously detailed to the US House Committee on Agriculture, advising Chairmen Mike Conaway and Glenn Thompson, and served as a principal drafter of the Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act.
Webb’s other positions at the CFTC included chief of staff to Commissioner Brian Quintenz, special counsel to Chairman Chris Giancarlo, senior special counsel in the Office of International Affairs, and senior trial attorney in the Division of Enforcement.
Speaking on the appointment, Asaf Meir, founder and CEO of Solidus Labs, says: “Kevin has seen market oversight from every angle, from enforcement to defining the frameworks for how new markets should be regulated.
“As traditional and emerging financial markets converge, Kevin’s experience will be integral to serving our clients, regulators, and the wider industry.”
Webb adds: “My career has focused on ensuring the integrity of the US derivatives and digital asset markets through sound legislation and regulation.
“I’m excited to continue that work at Solidus Labs as it provides market integrity solutions to regulators, intermediaries, and market participants trying to keep pace with exponential growth and innovation in our markets.”
Solidus says the appointment comes as it continues to expand its trade surveillance and compliance across asset classes and market structures.
