Cross River Bank has partnered with Ripple to integrate RLUSD, Ripple’s US dollar-backed stablecoin, into its Core Operating System, supporting transactions on the public XRP Ledger (XRPL).

The partnership seeks to offer payment networks a new settlement option with RLUSD as an additional rail, giving issuers and acquirers more flexibility to settle intraday and reduce settlement latency.

Clients will be able to access RLUSD through a single API connection without having to deploy blockchain infrastructure.

Commenting on the collaboration, Adam Goller, head of fintech banking at Cross River, says: “By integrating RLUSD into Cross River’s existing stablecoin infrastructure, we’re expanding on capabilities already in development, enabling fintechs to move between US dollars and RLUSD, settle cross-border payments and treasury movement 24/7, and access ACH, wires, and real-time payments through a single banking platform and API connection.”

Markus Infanger, senior vice president, RippleX at Ripple, adds: “Stablecoins won’t transform payments through parallel financial systems.

“They’ll do it by becoming part of the banking infrastructure businesses already use.

“Cross River is at the forefront of putting that into practice by bringing RLUSD and the XRP Ledger’s fast, low-cost settlement into its regulated banking platform.”

The offering is currently available in limited states, according to the companies.
