Clearstream has announced that securities issued in D7 DLT, its tokenised issuance platform, are eligible for use as collateral in the Eurosystem Collateral Management System (ECMS).

The decision, made by the European Central Bank, marks a milestone in the digital evolution of capital markets, according to Clearstream.

The firm says the initiative will allow for enhanced liquidity and collateral mobility, bridging the gap between digital securities and the core of European central bank money operations.

Market participants can integrate digital assets into their collateral strategy through Clearstream’s digital securities infrastructure.

Clearstream is currently the sole triparty agent connected to the ECMS.
