Gate US, a cryptocurrency trading platform, has joined BitGo’s Go Network off-exchange settlement (OES) in a bid to expand institutional access to US digital asset liquidity.
According to the firms, mutual institutional clients will be afforded access to Gate US’s liquidity while assets are held in segregated, regulated custody at the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC)-chartered BitGo Bank & Trust.
Clients can allocate cash, cash equivalents, crypto assets, and eligible tokenised real-world assets, like money market funds.
Structurally, instead of transferring assets onto an exchange, clients allocate balances held in BitGo’s bank for trading, which are then mirrored to Gate US and accepted for execution, with assets remaining segregated throughout the trade.
According to BitGo, its Go Network OES is indicative of its wider approach to institutional market infrastructure, providing access to fragmented liquidity and connecting firms to global digital asset markets.
Commenting on the collaboration, Adam Sporn, head of prime brokerage and institutional sales at BitGo, says: “Whether clients trade through BitGo Prime or directly with exchanges like Gate US, they should be able to access liquidity without sacrificing the protections that come from keeping assets in regulated qualified custody.”
Laura Liu, chief operating officer at Gate US, adds: “Partnering with BitGo on Go Network OES lets Gate US offer our liquidity to institutions in a framework built around regulated, segregated custody — reinforcing the kind of trusted infrastructure this market needs to keep scaling.”
