Mantle, a distribution layer connecting TradFi and onchain liquidity, has migrated the Mantle Super Portal — co-developed by Bybit, a cryptocurrency exchange — from the Web3 messaging protocol LayerZero to Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP).
CCIP is said to bring a higher level of cross-chain security to MNT, Mantle’s native utility and governance token, and also supports decentralised node infrastructure, advanced risk management, and institutional security standards.
MNT has also adopted the Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard, with all transfer controls configured by Mantle.
Mantle says the upgrade stems from its internal cross-chain security review, which concluded that its ecosystem security needed bolstering, with CCIP meeting the firm’s security requirements.
As a result of the migration, Mantle’s Super Portal will be temporarily suspended from 9 to 15 July 2026.
Commenting on the initiative, Emily Bao, key advisor at Mantle, says: “Deprecating our legacy bridging solution and migrating the Super Portal to Chainlink CCIP brings every MNT cross-chain transfer in line with the security standards of the world's largest financial institutions.”
Johann Eid, chief business officer at Chainlink Labs, adds: “Mantle's migration to Chainlink CCIP reflects the growing recognition that secure-by-default infrastructure is critical for any cross-chain deployment to succeed at scale.”
