OpenPayd, a financial infrastructure provider, has expanded its regulatory footprint into the US, following the integration of state-licensed money services firm MSB USA, finalised after approvals.
According to OpenPayd, the initiative will bring 43 state money transmitter licences (MTLs) under its umbrella.
The firm is seeking to offer increased reach for its clients operating in or expanding into the US, and provide a “scalable foundation for growth”.
The expansion comes as OpenPayd prepares for its public listing on Nasdaq.
OpenPayd’s US venture comes after its recently announced Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) authorisation in the EU, approved by the Malta Financial Services Authority.
Commenting on the expansion, Ozan Ozerk, founder of OpenPayd, remarks: “Every era of finance has been defined by its infrastructure: correspondent banking wired together the 20th century economy; programmable money will power the 21st.”
He adds that the US is “at the forefront of this evolution” and OpenPayd now has regulated fiat and digital infrastructure “on both sides of the Atlantic”.
Iana Dimitrova, CEO at OpenPayd, says: “This entry to the US market is a transformative next step for OpenPayd, which builds on our multi-year growth.
“Our clients are increasingly global, and their demand for seamless, compliant payment infrastructure in key markets like the US has driven this strategic move.”
