Ciarán McGonagle has launched McGonagle Advisory, an independent consultancy focused on capital markets, legal engineering, and digital market infrastructure.
The firm will advise financial institutions, market infrastructure providers, law firms, and technology companies on areas including digital assets, artificial intelligence, computable contracts, and next-generation market infrastructure.
Its work will cover strategy and operating models, legal engineering, documentation-to-data processes, digital assets, collateral and settlement, as well as independent reviews of complex products, and infrastructure programmes.
McGonagle previously served as chief legal and product officer at Tokenovate, where his work included product architecture for tokenised financial instruments, and automated collateral workflows.
Prior to this, he was assistant general counsel at the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), where he worked on smart derivatives contracts, digital asset documentation, and legal data standards.
His earlier career includes roles at Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley, and Allen & Overy.
The consultancy will operate across areas including tokenised product structures, collateral mobility, repo and derivatives infrastructure, computable contract design, and AI governance.
McGonagle Advisory will provide strategic, product architecture and operating model advice, but will not provide formal legal advice, software development, or implementation services.
McGonagle said the consultancy is already working with a number of early clients.
He says via LinkedIn: “I’ve spent much of my career working on problems that sit between law, financial markets, and technology. I’m now building an independent advisory practice focused on that intersection.”
