SIX and TWINT have joined the Swiss franc stablecoin initiative, initially launched in April 2026, as partners.

With the addition of the two new firms, a total of nine Swiss companies are jointly testing selected use cases for a CHF stablecoin in a sandbox environment: UBS, PostFinance, Sygnum, Raiffeisen, Zürcher Kantonalbank, BCV, SIX, TWINT, and Swiss Stablecoin.

The testing is based on the stablecoin CHFD, pegged one-to-one to the Swiss franc, which has been live in the sandbox since the end of June.

CHFD Infrastruktur, a subsidiary of Swiss Stablecoin, is operating the CHF stablecoin platform where testing is taking place.

According to the consortium, the initiative is examining stablecoin applications under realistic conditions and established international use cases, such as automated transactions between institutions and the tokenised settlement of digital assets.

This phase is anticipated to continue until the end of 2026 and is designed with an open outcome.

Primary objectives include insights into where a CHF stablecoin could create value, possible challenges, and the technical, operational, and regulatory requirements that need to be met for potential future development.

The firms will provide an overview of their findings upon completion of the initiative.
