Thredd, an AI-first issuer processing platform, has partnered with stablecoin treasury and settlement firm Velocity, expanding its payments offering to include stablecoin money movement capabilities.

Velocity will provide programmable wallet infrastructure, connectivity to blockchain and banking rails, liquidity and conversion technology, and the orchestration layer for settlement.

Thredd says the initial rollout will primarily focus on B2B and B2B2B use cases, including cross-border payouts, global treasury flows, onchain settlement, and stablecoin-backed card programmes.

Clients will be able to use stablecoins to convert between fiat and send funds onchain or through fiat rails, reducing prefunding and collateral requirements and bypassing correspondent banking hours, the firm says.

Commenting on the partnership, Jim McCarthy, CEO of Thredd, says: “Stablecoins are rapidly becoming an important part of global payments infrastructure, but clients should not have to rebuild their payments stack to take advantage of them.

“By bringing stablecoin money movement into the Thredd platform, we can connect the issuing and processing capabilities our clients already rely on with new ways to move, convert, and settle funds.”

Eric Queathem, CEO and founder of Velocity, adds: “The real opportunity with stablecoins isn't a new asset; it's a more programmable way for businesses to move and manage money globally.

“That's where stablecoins get powerful: not as a separate crypto product, but as infrastructure embedded in the systems businesses already use.”
