Turkish digital asset platform Paribu has announced its acquisition of Middle Eastern and North African crypto exchange CoinMENA, in a transaction valuing the company at US$240 million.
The deal is Türkiye’s largest fintech transaction to date, in addition to its first cross-border acquisition of a digital asset platform.
Paribu highlights the Middle East’s high crypto adoption as a key facet in its plans to expand operations into the region.
Moreover, the acquisition of CoinMENA — a local entity licensed by both Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) and the Central Bank of Bahrain — will afford Paribu access to two digital asset licenses, expanding its regulatory footprint and positioning itself as one of the region’s few multi-jurisdictional regulatory operators.
The company also expanded into custody in 2024, introducing Paribu custody, Türkiye’s first and only digital asset custody provider.
Commenting on the purchase, Yasin Oral, founder and CEO of Paribu, says: “With this acquisition, we have expanded our licensed operations to a wider geography, becoming a regulated player in one of the world’s most crypto-adoptive markets.”
In a joint statement, Talal Tabbaa and Dina Sam’am, co-founders of CoinMENA, added: “By combining CoinMENA’s regional expertise with Paribu’s technology, we are poised to develop a comprehensive suite of digital asset products for users across Türkiye and the MENA region.”
