OKX, a blockchain technology and trading firm, has revealed its plan to integrate with BitGo Bank and Trust, BitGo’s US-regulated digital asset trust bank.
US-based OKX clients will be provided with automated off-exchange settlement infrastructure.
The initiative is designed to address the requirements of institutions to move assets onto a venue by enabling institutional access to OKX’s full liquidity and trading infrastructure.
Institutional clients will be able to trade on OKX while keeping their assets, which are neither transferred nor held on the exchange, in segregated, regulated custody at BitGo.
Speaking on the partnership, Star Xu, OKX founder and CEO, says: “Capabilities such as off-exchange settlement are an important step forward for the industry, reducing counterparty risk while enabling more efficient capital deployment.
“Combining robust internal systems with best-in-class external partners is key to strengthening trust and accelerating institutional adoption.”
BitGo founder and CEO, Mike Belshe, adds: “As institutions continue to adopt this model, we believe we’ll see institutions benefit from more consistent workflows, lower operational complexity, and better capital efficiency across the market.”
OKX says the partnership is indicative of its commitment to making institutional infrastructure a “core part of its US platform”, aligning its systems with “the expectations of institutional risk teams, compliance officers, and regulators”.
