Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company (BSTR) has terminated its business combination with Cantor Equity Partners I (CEPO).
According to BSTR, Bitcoin treasury vehicles continue to face pressure stemming from difficult market conditions, resulting in dislocations in capital markets and limiting the use of convertible bonds and perpetual preferred equity instruments.
The firm believes that publicly listed Bitcoin investment opportunities will re-emerge once market conditions stabilise.
Commenting on the termination, Adam Back, CEO and co-founder of BSTR, says: “The teams at CEPO and Cantor have been outstanding partners throughout, and we reached this decision together.
“Despite current market conditions, we continue to see substantial demand for return on Bitcoin, and we have spent the last year building the capability to deliver it.”
Sean Bill, chief investment officer and co-founder of BSTR, adds: “We will continue to design, build and scale institutional-grade investment strategies focused on creating Bitcoin returns and building out Bitcoin capital markets.”
BSTR was founded to participate in active Bitcoin treasury management under institutional-grade standards, with an approach that includes yield and alpha strategies
