The MENA FINTECH ASSOCIATION (MFTA), a non-profit aiming to foster fintech dialogue in the Middle East and North Africa region, has chosen Meera Judge and Zain Umer as co-chairs of its digital assets working group.
The pair will be responsible for setting the working group’s agenda on tokenisation, stablecoins, and open-ownership infrastructure, working with regulators and industry across the network’s markets.
Judge is currently global head of policy and regulatory affairs at Elliptic, and has worked in the financial services industry for just over 15 years.
She also spent approximately four years with Binance, most recently as director of regulatory licensing and policy
Umer is managing director at CFC MENA, a Dubai-based regulatory and strategic advisory consultancy.
Prior to joining CFC MENA, he was head of licensing and supervision at the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA).
Commenting on their new positions, Judge says: “Value that used to sit still is moving onchain, the technology is maturing fast, and open ownership is becoming practical.
“I am grateful to be taking on the role of co-chair of MFTA’s digital assets working group at exactly this moment.”
Umer adds: “I look forward to bringing together regulators, industry leaders, and the wider ecosystem to help address the market challenges that will shape this next chapter, and to ensure the region continues to set a global benchmark for responsible innovation.”
Nameeer Khan, MFTA chairman, believes that its new appointees have the credibility and industry perspective necessary to guide the working group as the region’s digital asset market matures.
