Derivatives marketplace CME Group has announced its cryptocurrency futures and options suite achieved an all-time daily volume record of almost 800,000 contracts on 21 November, surpassing the previous record of approximately 730,000 set on 22 August 2025.

Giovanni Viciosco, global head of cryptocurrency products at CME Group, says: “Amid ongoing market uncertainty, demand for deeply liquid, regulated crypto risk management tools is accelerating.”

The group’s cryptocurrency futures and options have continued to see new heights this year, with year-to-date, overall cryptocurrency average daily volume (ADV) of 270,900 contracts (US$12 billion in notional), up 132 per cent year-over-year (YoY), in addition to average open interest of 299,700 contracts (US$26.6 billion in notional), up 82 per cent YoY.

Furthermore, Q4 ADV was up 117 per cent compared to Q4 2024, at 493,700 contracts (US$35.4 billion in notional).
