Galaxy has been selected by Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) as an approved staking validator for two new digital asset exchange traded products (ETPs) — Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (MSSE) and Morgan Stanley Solana Trust (MSOL).
MSSE and MSOL aim to track the performance of Ethereum and Solana, respectively, with each intended to stake a portion of its holdings through three institutional validators, including Galaxy.
Resultant staking rewards are passed to shareholders through distributions.
Galaxy says the selection by MSIM indicates a market shift, as banks and asset managers look to proven institutional infrastructure for their digital asset initiatives.
Regarding the partnership, Steve Kurz, global co-head of digital assets at Galaxy, says that MSIM evaluated Galaxy against the requirements of both Ethereum and Solana, coming “back with the same answer twice”.
He adds: “That's the kind of diligence institutional capital requires, and it is exactly the standard we built this business to meet.”
Ally Wallace, global head of ETFs at MSIM, comments: “Staking is a core component of the Ethereum and Solana ecosystems, and we are focused on providing digital asset solutions that meet the growing demand we are seeing from clients while adhering to Morgan Stanley's standard.
“Partners like Galaxy, with a longstanding track record across both networks, are central to delivering that.”
