Sygnum, a digital asset banking group, has appointed Reto Marx as CEO of its Singapore subsidiary.
In tandem with the appointment, Sygnum co-founder and current APAC CEO, Gerald Goh, transitions into the role of executive chairman of Sygnum APAC, where he will lead group-wide capital markets and fundraising efforts, investor relations, and the firm’s strategic initiatives.
Marx joins Sygnum after seven years with Liechtenstein-based VP Bank, most recently serving as its CEO, co-head of Singapore, and chief risk officer, Asia.
He brings over 25 years’ experience to the new position, including stints at UBS, Credit Suisse, and Bank Sarasin, holding senior leadership roles across private banking, intermediary business, products, and risk management throughout Singapore and Hong Kong.
Sygnum Singapore cites Marx’s extensive experience in Asian markets and private banking as key facets in his hiring.
Commenting on the appointment, Goh says: “Beyond being a strong leader on the sales and business development side, Reto will also bring significant expertise in the development of products and services as well as on risk management and regulatory topics, which will further bolster our organisational resilience as we scale.”
Marx adds: “Asian wealth is increasingly seeking trusted, regulated access to digital assets as part of a diversified portfolio.
“I am excited to work with Gerald, the leadership team, and our clients and partners to translate that demand into the next phase of growth for Sygnum in the region.”
